Just took my B for her first drive after completing the resto. The Temp Gauge did not register any change after running engine for 15 min. Could there be an air bubble in the cooling system that is keeping the coolant from circulating?? My B has a water pump. If so, where would the air bubble most likey be and how do I get rid of it? I guess my gauge could be bad even though its new. What do you guys think??Thanks for your help!!

1. Do you know if the temp gauge works? 2.If you have a water pump and do not have working shutters and close them, it is never going to warm up. Bad for engine to run so cold. Install working shutters and use them.

3. My 1950 B has no water pump and I need to keep the shutters part closed even under load to maintain operating temperature.

I think I agree with Ralph, I wouldnt worry just yet and especially since it has a water pump. They are designed to PULL A FULL LOAD AT 100 DEGREE TEMPS ya know, so unloaded on a moderate day only running 15 minutes ESPECIALLY with no closed shutters??I wouldnt expect her to rise much in Temperature.

I suspect nothing is wrong. If you have shutters, try closing them. When warming my A to retighten the head after overhaul, we completely covered the radiator with kraft paper, i.e. a seed wheat sack. Even then it took several minutes to reach operating temperatures. That cooling system is designed to keep the engine @180 or 190 when under full load even if the outside temperature is 90.

Dont know about where an air pocket could be and a little after the fact but the temperature gauge could be easily checked by putting to bulb part in a pot of water on the stove and bring the water to a boil. Dont know that I would try taking boiling water to the tractor and not sure of the reaction of the gauge if not moved in a gradual temperature change.
