I asked this over on Tractor Talk but didn't get any responses so I'll try the tractor color forums and see what happens. Just found out about the possibility of getting personal liability coverage through the Early Days Gas Engine & Tractor Association. I've visited their website and I'm pretty sure I understand what's involved, I have to join one of the associated American affiliated clubs which in turn makes me eligible to purchase personal liability coverage for tractor events etc. Any Canadians out there (or US people) who can comment or shed any light on this whole thing? I'd appreciate your input. Insurance of this type is difficult to get up in these parts unless you are a farm or business owner.

A friend of mine is getting us insurance thru a club he is involved with. It covers steam and internal combustion tractors so it's a real bargain for him! Haven't seen the policy yet, but it's $40 CDN dollars. I understand that it only covers liability at the show, not transportation to and from the show, theft, fire, acts of whatever, etc.

Hope to see him this afternoon and should have a copy of the policy and more details.
He offered to get my coverage when he got his, so I gave him the 40 bucks and off he went!

Thanks, get back when you can. There is some reluctance from affiliated clubs to include Canadians if they live any distance away from the border. Some concerns that the further away members are, the more difficult it is to monitor safety regulations, etc (although I don't know how that would be done wherever events are happening). I am assuming that you live here in Canada, is that right? Whereabouts would that be?

Will get more details.

We live in Cumberland which is just East of Ottawa. We are heated in winter by the hot air and bluster from Parliament Hill. LOL

I have EDGETA ins through our club. As I understand, it covers you at a show or event, or transportation to and from said event. All club members get it with our club membership dues. It is very affordable, I think. Just find a EDGETA group in your area. Here's the EDGETA branch locator link. Hope it helps.
