JD with Creeper Gear/Single Cylinder

I'm sure you've been asked this question before... which JD year/model have the single cylinder diesel motor and creeper gear?
Mostly I'm looking to get an old JD that has that 'popping' sound as it runs and pulls. I have fond memories of old JDs running up and down the fields in NY and hearing that distinct 'pop' 'pop' 'pop' sound as the JD did her thing.
I think that sound is from the creeper gear being engaged on a single cylinder diesel motor. But I'm not a JD expert. Any assistance on this is appreciated.

The last year or two of Mannheim Germany built Lance Bulldogs were single cylinder and had the JD name on the side. The dates are in my books at home somewhere? About 1960 or so.

I don't know of any model John Deere tractor that had only one cylinder. All of the popping tractors (pre 1960) had two cylinders, diesel or gas. Both make a similar pop pop sound. Some had creeper transmissions but that had no effect on the sound.

THe only possibility that I can think of is a Model E stationary engine that was mounted onto a frame and belted into a transmition. Ive seen a Farmall regular frame that had a Whitt engine powering it. That was definatly homemade but its possible someone made traction conversions for the stationaries in much the same manner that the Lindemans were converted.
