Need some opinions on a German built 2020. Good and bad things to watch out for when looking at the tractor. Saw one for sale for 4000$ Front and rear matched new rubber, great paint, no visible leaks. Did this tractor only come with a cat 2 hitch? Also has 38 tires on the rear. Looks tall to tall Im 62 and the rear tires come up to my shoulder. Might these be the right sized tires.

What are the serial numbers? I'm 99.9% certain all gas & diesel 2020's were Dubuque built. The gas 2020 showed up in Canada and if a diesel was wanted in that size a 2120 was ordered. Most 2020's were utility tractors with 30" dia rims.

I'm not going to add the other .1%, but I thought they were all built in Dubuque too. The 2030 was the first, I thought, German built. I wonder which engine it has, the 2020, 202 cid, 2030, 219 cid. I had a 2020 that came from Dubuque with 13.9 36 tires.

Could you post the numbers on every serial number plate please? That's an interesting question on that's 2020's parentage I would like to figure it out. Is there any chance it's had some major components swapped during its career?

i have a JD 2120 which was a little bigger than the 2020 i believe, anyway, very close to it and mine has been a great tractor. If it is a diesel for $4000 thats a pretty good deal. Even a gas motor thats still not too bad. Mine has the cat. 2 hitch, you can put the bushings in the lift arms to reduce it to a cat 1. As far as the tires, 38's are correct, and you will love it, the height really makes a difference, that thing will go like a tank, mine has 38's and it will backup hills bush hogging like you wouldn't believe. Check all the fluids before you buy it and go over it really well, if its the diesel motor, those things are really good, i've never had a moments trouble with mine. if the hydralic fluid is milky looking, thats from some water getting in there, you'll just need to change it, alot of times the gearshift boots crack and water can get in around them and turn the fluid a milky color.

Agree with both comments. 38's seem pretty much standard for european row crops (vs utility). It makes for lots of steel and a little rubber. The rubber has to be replaced (at a lesser cost) the steel usually doesn't. Nothing wrong with a tractor made in europe. You'd be surprised it may be SAE which says it's made to the orig JD specs.

Maybe parts availability on some smaller things is the reason they are a little different.

$4000 is a great price.

I work at a JD dealer in the parts dept. and the only thing I have seen is sometimes the "European"
tractors sometimes take awhile to get parts for.
