Got my B running and looking good. New Mag, new plugs gapped at 32, good fuel, but when I go to start this handstarter, I choke full about (2) turns and it almost hits then cut choke back to almost off and you will think its going to hit almost every crank but it doesn"t. You can do this sometimes 20 minutes before she will start, but every time you crank you would swear its going to start. Also after its running and warm I still have to keep it choked just a little. Any ideas??

Check the throttle stem for play. smetimes it will let air past it. Fixed my A with some tar(short fix but it ran better till I could get a new body)

Don't forget that a full choke cuts off all air flow which is not exactly what you want as you need some air flow to move the enriched mixture to the cylinders.

It sounds like the carb needs some adjusting at the very least. If you can run while the load needle is removed then you need to tear into the carb and unplug a passage or jet. Same for idle mixture screw. Likewise, if you can run while either needle is screwed in all the way in you need to tear into the carb and fix that as well. After that it's all in the adjustment and moving one needle does affect the other needle some amount.

I agree with Mike you probably need to do a carb rebuild. My B also hand start, I choke it one full turn of the flywheel, unchoke and most of the time 3-7 turns latter it is running. By the way the B I have has the same rings in it that my grand father had in it back in the 40s

If you have to keep the choke on a little to keep it running you have plugged carb. passages or a vacume leak from a leaky valve or intake gasket or all of the above.
