Need some help w/ my "50 B. Right cylinder won"t fire (continuously) Ignition all new. Obvious things (moving plugs, wires, etc) to "move" the problem doesn"t work. Compression @ 55-60# equal on both sides. Left bank fires like clockwork, cannot get my arms around the intermittent firing problem on the right bank; runs good sometimes, other times won"t run for love or money. Thanking you in advance for your help. JH

Joe, do you just notice this at idle?? If you put her under any load and get the RPM up you no longer notice it, then I suspect youre just observing the common problem those tractors exhibit due to having only a one barrel carb and the uneven 0 then 180 firing order, then the long 540 degree coast cycle. The left cylinder gets a better charge of gas when its piston goes down n draws gas in due the residual vacuum and gas in the manifold during that long coast cycle which the right cylinder dont get the adantage of. At idle if you remove the left plug wire she almost dies, while removing the right dont make near as much difference.

If it always happens, then look for plug or plug wire problems and if its neither of those, look for cap or rotor problems or bushing or cam lobe problems in the mag or distributor.

do you have good spark at the plug? does it fire when under a load? if it fires under a load then you may not have a probelm because some sound like they arent firing if not under a load because the left cylinder gets most of the fuel. one reason deere went to a duel carb setup. make sure you have snappy blue spark at the plug. If it has battery ignition, and all checks out good, I used a second condensor in inside the cap for a little extra spark reserve, I have noticed that it usually cleans up that plug on #2 some, that compression sounds really low to me for a gasser B.
