1939 B Hand Start

I have a 1939 B that is giving me trouble starting.It was starting fine,now it will pop once on one cylinder and push the flywheel backwards.It takes a lot of hand cranking to finaly get it running.
When it does run there seems to be a lack of power.It will only stay running at full throttle.Back off on the throttle to much it will quit.
I checked points ok and have spark.
Could the Mag gotten out of time? May be a sticking valve. I rebuilt the governer last year.
Also when trying to pull start seems like tries to fire and back fire with white smoke comming out

Sounds to me like you have carb trouble. Have you rebuilt the carb and cleaned ALL the passages? I would start there.
