Shifting mechanism in dash is worn and loose causing operator to over shift and miss-position shift cams in transmission. If miss shift can be corrected by repositioning lever in dash and tractor does not jump out of gear after doing this repair to the shift quadrant in dash may correct your problem. If it still continues to jump out, damage from wear and over shifting has worn out your reverse synchronizer. If adjustment was the reason for your failure your forward speeds would also be out of adjustment as one control rod / adjustment affects both. To repair synchronizer tractor will have to be split between clutch housing and transmission, rockshaft assembly removed and top shaft removed and rebuilt. Very common wear point on older tractor especially one used for shuttle type work with allot of hours. DW

Are you "overshifting" it, i.e. jamming it into gear; try just laying it (lever) gently into the selected gear/gate; see if that helps.
