Conpleted engine overhaul on Model M, 1948. Started engine with rocker arm cover off to make sure head was getting oil. No oil. Has new oil pressure gauge that reads high, removed galley pipe plug located near oil filter, oil gushed out when engine fired. However, but no oil comes out the opening with the oil line (part #AM753T) removed at the block. When I apply oil into this opening in the block the oil leaks down. Any ideas as to problem or solution? Thanks

Start the engine up with the oil line removed from the block. If no oil comes out, then the cam bearing is not installed correctly. If oil does come out, then remove the rear rocker arm stud that goes through the valve cover. This stud has a flat place on the side of it to allow oil to the rockers. Its possible this stud was installed at the front of the engine.

Thanks for all comments. Looks like I will have to pull engine down and check cam bearing alignment.

I once had an aftermarket head gasket that didn't have the oil passage hole and I didn't pick up on it. Are you sure yours was the right gasket and no passages blocked?

Did anyone have the cam bearings out ? The rear one has to line up perfectly to an oil hole.

its more than likely the rear rocker arm stud bolt is not alined correctly. seen it happen several times each time this was the problem.

I ran a line from the pipe plug located near the oil pump to the head. Oil came out at the rocker arms just like it should. Thus, I think I have a cam bearing problem. Thanks for all comments
