5th Wheel,
Your tractor is considered a 1942 model, but the 1942 model year ran from July 1, 1941 through June 30, 1942. The 1942 model year started with s/n 118721 and ended with 136315, according to the JD Two Cylinder Club card. So, about 18000 were built during the 1942 model year, or about 1500/month. Yours is about 3000 into the model year, or about 2 months, so my guess is your 1942 tractor was built late August or early September 1941. And in Waterloo, as noted by earlier posts.

According to Brian Rukes and Andy Kraushaar's "Original John Deere Lettrer Series Tractors 1923-1954", serial number 121723 was built in 1942.

Nice buy.
