What year of the B's had the B sticker on the sides of the grills?? From the best we can tell, mine is probably a '42 or '43. Thanks

It wasn't until the late styled B starting in 1947 that the "B" appeared on the sides of the grille, before that it was on the seat channel and when that was replaced by the battery box, the designation was moved to the grille sides. Decal kits included the "B" decal and many dealer repaints resulted in the "updated" decals being applied.

Was their just 1 B sticker on the seat channel and nothing else? If so, where on the seat channel was the B located??

5th Wheel, It is not the same "B" that is on the grill. It is a decal that when read from the pully side says "John Deere B" that goes on the seat channel.

Let me correct myself, it will say "Model B" not "John Deere B". Still read from pully side.

Bob,

Dad had our '43 B repowered with the Cyclone engine, put it on rubber and added 5th and 6th gears sometime in the late '40s. He also had it repainted and I thought that B decal on the side made it look like one of the late styled tractors. So much for a 10 year-olds thoughts, eh?
