You said there is one fuel tank that is split? Is the tractor styled or unstyled? (Unstyled = front of radiator exposed. Styled = radiator is enclosed with grills) Unstyled tractors SN 1000-59999 built from 1935 to 1938, had a 4 speed transmission, little fenders over the brake drums, gas and fuel tanks were one unit. The gas tank was a small round "canteen" soldered to the back of the main tank. The first styled B's SN 60000-95999 built 1939-1940 were very similar to the unstyled except for the sheet metal. They had the 4 speed transmission, fenders over the brake drums. The fuel tanks were one unit with the small gasoline tank soldered to the back of the main tank. The fuel filler necks for both tanks are about 6 inches apart. The engine was also upgraded with a 1/4" increase in bore. This replaced another horse or two. Another major change occured beginning with the 1941 model year. The 6 speed transmission was introduced. The fenders over the brake drums were dropped. The fuel tanks were two separate tanks and the filler necks through the hood were moved further apart; guessing around 18 inches. Be aware the 4 speed transmission could have been upgraded to 6 speeds. There was a aftermarket modification that provided the 5th and 6th gear. The list goes on but these all had the welded frame. My guess is it's either an unstyled 35-38 or early styled 39-40.
