Which 2 terminals on the voltage regulator need to be jumped across? Replaced alternator with original generator and trying to get finished. Volt gauge is showing negative when I turn the lights on a '50 A. 12 volt positive ground system.

I just had to repolarize one on a B we have. Jump from the Armature terminal on the generator to the battery terminal on the regulator. touch them together with a wire for a second or to and it should be right. You should show a charge on your guage when you start the tractor. if it is showing a discharge then swap the wires on your ampmeter

You can polarize the generator and function test it at the same time.
Remove the fan belt and push the cut-out contacts together with a wooden or plastic stick. The generator should turn and run in the proper direction. The residual magnetism is now properly aligned too. Then use another stick and open the voltage regulator contacts while still holding the cut-out closed. The generator should speed up some.
At either time a properly wired ammeter will swing to neg.

All you should need to do is switch the wires on the back of the ammeter. I am assuming that you went back to positive ground with the generator??

My assumption was based on the alternator being negative ground. You will get a correct polarizing post here, I'm sure. I understand what you were asking and cannot give you the 100% correct way to polarize. Sorry.
