Lookin at a 2030 looks to be in pretty good shape. Asking price is 5900. Tires are 80%. little rust. I know nothing about this model tractor. Anyone have any points i should look for and is the price ok. Also are there any well known problems with this model tractor. Thanks as always

I bought a 2030 about 4 years ago for $6500 with
loader and new clutch. This one has the hydro
reverser or shuttle shift. I feel like it was worth it and have had no problems. One notable thing is that it's the best cold weather starting
diesel tractor I've seen. Good Luck D-GEEK

I've got a (Dubuque made) 2440, 1978 vintage. It is essentially the same tractor as a 2030, except for some sheet metal. VERY good tractor. I'd take the U.S. made version over the German one in a heartbeat.

The biggest "problem" with the 2030 or the 2440 is the POTENTIAL trouble with the wet sleeve 219 cu. inch diesel. They are proned to "wet sleev pitting". That is where lack of service to the coolant, combined with dirt particles in the cooloing system erode the base of the cylinder sleeves, causing anti-freeze to dump into the crank-case. Not a very desirable thing, let me assure you. (BTDT)

Great power to wieght ratio. excellent balance. great hydraulics. Just make sure to change the coolant on a regular basis.

I have dealt in many 2030 & 2440 tractors the mannheim (german built )tractors are far superior than the states version. They are some what heavier notably the front end, tie rods & axles different fuel system ,heavier clutch & pressure plate & starter. my experiences

The American built 2030's are very dependable. My father bought one new and it is still on the farm. My Uncle bought a foreign(German) built new and it was nothing but problems. The serial tag is located behind the 3-point lift control on the transmission case. It should say Dubuque(Made in USA) or Manneheim, Germany. Both were diesels. Gas models were guzzlers.
