Breakaway Coupler....latest problem

When I match all the old 'O' Rings and backing pieces with the new ones that came with the kit I end up with differences. there is no match in the kit for the doughnut shaped 'O' ring that fits in the wide end of the receptacle(steel ball end). The only thing in the kit of the same diameter is a flat washer type seal about the same thickness as the original 'O' ring. The number of backing pieces is the same. But I don't see how the backing pieces would fit using the flat seal. Are these the right pieces for this coupler? Or should I go out and buy a couple of 'O' rings that match?
I know there are extra pieces in the kit that fit an upgrade to the original but taking all that into account the pieces don't match.

Any suggestions?

Talked to a JD mechanic today and he said the flat seals don't use the backing.

I Put it together and it's leak free

The square packings replace the old O rings.Personally, I prefer the O rings myself. They are a LOT easier to install than the square packings and seal just as well in my opinion.Did you get those pesky E clips installed? There is an easy way or two to do it.

yes ,got the E clips on ok. they were easier to get on than to get off. I pushed down on the plug and got one end of the clip started into the groove then pusher down on the clip and worked it around untill it seated.

Does the backup backing get used when the square packing is used in place of the 'o' ring?
