If you are facing the carb on the fuel inlet side, which direction is full choke and which is NO choke?

Hi 5TH If I may throw one more element in here!! I have a 36B Hand start and the choke is closed if you turn it counter clockwise (DLTX 10 carb) ON my 40A Hand start the choke is closed when you turn it clockwise. I don't remember the carb model on though. Good Luck!!

5th Wheel,
On a DLTX Marvel Schebler carburetor, if you look closely at the location where the choke lever is attached to the choke shaft you will find a stamped-in line on the lever. This line is parallel with the choke plate. This makes it easy to tell the position of the choke. For the DLTX67-73 used on styled A's and B's from '47 on the joint of the lever and shaft is not visible, but those are rather obvious anyway, as is the choke position on two barrel carbs.

5th:

My experience has been that the choke rod (if it's one that goes to the dash) is pulled out for choke and pushed in for off-choke.

It is different on a hand start carb where forward is choke (at least it's that way on my "H").

Frank

Choke is closed when turned toward the driver"s seat----open when turned toward the radiator.
You might want to take the air inlet off to make sure the butterfly is actually moving as you turn the choke....
