Has anyone put an altenator on their 4010 gas? We switched to electronic ignition sveral years ago and repolarized generator to neg. ground. Would like to switch to altenator. We have this tractor with loader and idle alot when moving pallets of beans, generator doesn't seem to keep up. Thanks AJB

I put a 10SI one wire alternator on my early gas 4020. Reversed the generator bracket and found an extension for the pivot bolt on the alternator. Bought the smallest wide pulley possible. It takes a bit of goosing (1800 rpm) to start charging then it charges fine at all engine speeds. And it charges the battery in ten or 15 minutes from each start. Far better than the generator did. Now I get years of battery life instead of just one.
