My machine shop said I need over size pistons and sleeves. Is this the way to go? If so where can I get them? The walls are pitted bad. Can we go 90 over and forget the sleeves?

Hi jr55;

My machinist determined that 40 over was sufficient to overcome the pitting -- and I got 40-oversized pistons & rings from Charles Lindstrom, (913)365-5500, not far from St Joe, Missouri. Tell him that "Pat from New Braunfels Texas" sent you there; he will treat you right. He can fix you up with any size you will need.

Be sure you have the pistons in hand BEFORE your machinist begins to cut. He will also need to know the required "skirt clearance" which, for the H, is "3 to 6 thousandths."

Between Charles & me, we have made H John Deeres our specialty. Let us know if we can help in any other way. (PatB) [email protected]
