I am looking at a 1010 ru gas everything seems to work fine except there is a consent whinning noise comming from the trans area. It makes this noise all of the time. cluth in or out, in or out of gear. Could it be the hydraulic pump? fluid is full and looks clean. does this tractor have a filter in the system? Three point hitch works fine. Also the pto is always on. The selector is on top of the trans right next to the shifter it is just a handle that moves left or right. one way the pto spins fast and the other way the pto spins slower. Is this how it is suppose to work? the pto is on all of the time.. thanks

Looks like you are not going to get a lot of replies. Too bad. I was hoping to get the same answers you were looking for. I can tell you that my 1010 also whines but it seems to me that when I work it with an implement on the 3-point I can tell the change in the sound. That makes me fairly certain it is coming from the pump.

As far as the pto turning all the time is concerned, you need to adjust the clutch. Mine turns a little bit, but I can grab it and stop it when I need to attach an implement. I just have been too lazy to do the adjustment.
