I have the option to buy a 430 RCU it needs an engine and cooling system. Is $2500 crazy? They do fetch a pretty price when restored, but,,,
Any help appreciated thanks.

As the others have stated, that is high. I bought mine in 99 (much cheaper than your quote) knowing it needed a gear in the trans. Turned out it needed ALL new gears and bearings from the engine on back ($2700 in parts). It looks and operates very nice now, after 100 hours plus, plus in labor. My $.02, half of what he is asking.

If you have a nice restored one, you'll be hard pressed to get much more than $4500. Your price out of line....I sold one on auction for a friend, ran good no smoke, average and we got $3000. Don't overate these tractors, expecially one that needs major work.

Sounds high to me. Yes they do fetch a handsome price restored but a lot of time and money goes into restoration. You could be getting into a lot more than a motor& cooling system. Trust me on that. If you could buy it for 1500 or less, you could afford to take the chance.
