I recently bought a JD 500 Series A diesel backhoe. The electrics are a mess. I bought the owners manual and tech manual from Deere. The electrics and diagrams are totaly different from what I acually have, for example: in both manuals is says the diesel has two six volt bateries, mine has two twelve volt (ET3), the voltage going to the starter is 24V. The alternater is a Delco Remy, the books says it should be a Motorola, the Delco has only one lead hanging down, I'm real confused. I very much doubt that someone would change it to a 24V system.
I havent got it cleaned out enough to find the serial number, its full of mulch where its suppose to be, I need some above freezing weather to clean it up. From what I get off the parts and cross reference it to JDParts website, it looks like its a -123,000. Thanks, Ken
It does have the "John Deere 500 Series A" decals on it though.
