Are you talking about a model A ? I think that may be the only model that changed at that time. The splines are to drive the extra clutch plates that I guess they thought they needed a heavier duty clutch to prevent slippage. You can put the newer style cluch drive disk, that has the external splines on the end,in an earlier model if you need a clutch driver and have one laying around. You just can't put the rest of the extra parts in.You would have to change the whole pulley to do that.

Steve the change to the smaller, wider pully happened at serial number 201000. (the first late styled tractor in 47) Reason would have been the engine RPM was raised from 1150 to 1250 at that time so that would have made anything running off the belt pully run very fast. Smaller pully slowed it down. I don't show any change in 51 to the pully.

Mike, now that I think about it I think Steve does have an A. Don't know why I was thinking B except most often you hear "cyclone" and B together. SOOOO, NEVER MIND STEVE.

Yes I usually do only hear cyclone refering to a B. We may never know unless we hear back from him.

OK Steve, after paying attention this time I found this. They made changes twice. 584000-647999 had two facings like previous A's. At 648000 a double-plate clutch assembly was introduced. The sliding drive disk and adjusting disk were the same as used on the G. At 687986 the clutch adjusting disk A4249R replaced the F795R, and the AD1027R clutch faceing disk replaced the AD752R. Looks like you need to take your tractor along when you have to get clutch parts for it. LOL
