Thanks for the advice on the linings, but what I need to know is the actual thickness of the new linings. John Deere say they are now unavailable and I have checked on the JDparts site and it says part invalid. Can anyone give me an up to date part # or give me the thickness of the new linings. I dont want to have new linings put on and find they are to fat to go in the back end ! Thanks again, Chris.

anyway, the pad thickness is about 1/8 inch. if they are made at a brake shop, have them bonded in addition to the rivets. in normal use it will probably last forever.

Chris, the original part number subs up to a new number, which is R110464. They list for $16.75 a piece, and you'll need six per side, as they fit on the piston shoes and the backing plate. And don't worry about clearance, because they will fit - the same number also fits a bunch of other tractors, and I just put a set in a 4840 a month ago or so. Also be sure to replace the piston sealing rings and paper backup rings while you're there.
