Got to tuning on my G today, and the load adj needle can be screwed all the way out and does not get any richer. Had apart and you can run wire through the holes, had all the plugs out ran bit in them and wire in smaller holes. Everything seems to be open, air blows through everything good, any ideas on anything else to try. It runs wide open but shound'nt it run to rich if opened up. Thanks for any ideas, Ken.

I'm betting on the passage Earl is talking about. On that model there is an extra fixed hole/passage in addition to the adjustable one the needle goes into.

Ken, make sure you have the brass load nozzle installed correctly.. The taper goes down... A lot of people seem to like to install that nozzle with the taper up for some reason.. There was a post here a while ago explaining that procedure incorrectly so maybe that is the reason.

Also remember when tuning that carb with the engine running at fast idle with no work load it is running mostly on the idle needle yet.. Watch the carb top lever,, even with the engine at wide open it will only be slightly off the idle stop.. That load needle should really be adjusted with the engine under a belt or work load..

Ken, you speak of a lot of carb passages and plugs and hole cleaning etc., I just wondered if you removed the nozzle and cleaned it and all its lil side holes also???? Plus as Earl was talking about, it cant provide any more fuel than whats getting into the bowl (and at the correct float level), so is the tank outlet and sediment bowl and any valves and the needle n seat free n flowing and the gas cap vented?? If the carb bowls lower drain cock/plug is opened and gas turned on it ought to flow a steady stream approx 1/16 of an inch and the carb bowl has to vent air out so gas can flow in, does it????? Maybe shes never keeping a sufficient level of gas in the bowl to ever flood out.

Ken C. First you have to have ample fuel supply from the fuel tank. (remove inlet fuel screen check holes)Vented cap (electric fuel pump??)I don't need to know what kind of fuel but if alcohol, you will need to increase the size of needle seat which doesn't hurt anything if its as big as you can make it whatever you are burning .(bowl vent open) On the 51 carb make sure the side jet(#57(.043) number drill on the stem by the load needle is clear(little hole) Caution if the comp ratio is low and you have bored the venturi??? email if you need more help.Earl In Illinois
