That style of seat was fairly common on tractors sold in the South. Most all were driven by field hands and the owners didn't see the need to pay extra for a seat they were not going to be in anyway. One thing that would probably make it rare these day was those tractors lead a pretty poor life and were often severly abused by the help.I am sure most didn't survive the times and have long since been scrapped out.A Deere company rep once told me that at the end of the day, the field hands raced the tractors back home and he said if that wasn't enough, those who were still driving mules, raced the home too.

Many of the tractors of the South also didn't have differential locks on them when the differential lock was introduced.

The 3010s are not rare overall, but it is possible to have a chassis type that is! The gassers are the least desireable models, and everything that you can tell me, can be summed up in the two number code which forms the prefix to the serial number. If it is "11", your tractor is common as dirt.(~38,000) If it is "12", your tractopr is a somewhat more rare standard,(~3500) if it is "14", you have a rowcrop utility (~1794)which is very desireable, the numbers "15" indicate industrial,(~840) and "18" was the LANZ export version(139) which was very rare and would be very desireable if you could find one. "16" was another special export version,(118)and "17" was orchard(76). There were no "13" tractors---"13" is the code for "high crop" and none were built!

I assume you meant 3010 serial numbers:

1000 1961
19416 1962
32400 1963

If you are sure the hours are 2800, not 12k or 22k or 32k which they are capable of having in that time span.....Saw similar vintage advertised the other day from MN or somewhere up there...."yak yak 35,000 original hours yak yak". Blew me off my feet. Could not believe the number, but the tractor looked really nice.....from a pic.

Don't know the care nor condition. Could bring $7 to 8k if really sharp and mech perf.....easily $5 to 6.

As far as rarity, if they only built them 3 yrs like my 4010, then you might call that rare....but my 10's S/N is in the 200k region so that's not very rare.

the tractor is a wide front rowcrop tractor. i am sure of the hours 2800. that is twothousand-eight hundred hours. I don"t know what planet your from but it is not common for a tractor to have 28,000 to 35,000 hours on them. especially not a 50 horse gas tractor.

Well, I have always wondered just how many times the hour meter rolled when I buy a tractor.

I look at the steering and pedals. When I see cast steel clutch pedals with 1/4 inch of steel missing then look at the hour meter and it says 6000 hours I wonder. So now I know that there is such a thing as a 35,000 hour tractor and it may not be that much of a rareity.

Now on your 50 hp gasser I'll tend to agree. Seems that the big diesels got to do all the heavy field work and the smaller hp gassers, the errands.....but not always, and 40 years has a lot of potential operating hours in it (350,400 to be exact).

Since the tractor was in your family you know (just as the 35,000 family knew) it is only 2800. If I walked up to it, I could tell it too. Can't do that when you're trying to decide between 16,000 and 26,000 hours.

Mark, you might as well give it up; when someone chooses to mis-read your post(s) and then argues vehemently against something you haven't said, you can't win..... ..... oh, by the way, for those who don't know, what does potential mean???

potential is defined by Webster as:.....capable of being.....among other things.

I tried real to be real nice in my reply and not get into personals like age and all.

WHat kind of tractor is it that has run for 350,400 hours i don"t think that you can read. most hour meters won"t even run longer than 8-12000 hours. The family you are talking to either lied to you or your making this up. It would be unfeasable to overhaul a tractor that had that many hours on it. it would be cheaper to buy a new one. And i don"t care what kind it is you would have twice the money in repairs that it would take to buy a new one. It your story tell it how you want it, but don"t expect me to buy that bull, because its simply not possible. We have tractors have tracots with alot of hours 4430 14000, 4640 9400, 1650 (oliver) 16000, but most of these hours have came from pumping water in the river bottom, where they were not shut off for months besides to change to oil, so pardon me if i"m wrong but i don"t see how any tractor could operate that many hours without being scrapped

sice we are now leavig our names here i know that it means that you mean business mark
sincerely matt

Don't have to get huffy about it Matt. Go back and (accurately) read what I said if it is that important to you. And 90% of the time I sign my name, not handle, unless it is a one liner comment. People on here also know my address and email. If you want the phone you can have that too.

The hours I mentioned were total hours in 40 years (40x365x24). Reason for mentioning it is when you see a 40 year old tractor with 6000 hours on the hour meter, you'd like to think that that's all that's on the tractor. But usually it is as I mentioned..... ..notice I said usually..... .apparently you are not the norm. And since it was yours you ought to know if anyone does, right. And I know you (???) so I know you are a man of your word, right! Great.

Don't know when people might be using a tractor that is 40 years old. Some people hook them up to an irrigation pump and run them long periods of time and only shut them down to change the oil. Hard to judge the pedals and steering on that.

The tractor to which I was referring was around a JD 44xx series with cab and air. Was on this site in photo ads sitting in front of a very nice, very large barn, on what appeared to a very nice farm. I was really surprised that they (appeared to) accurately reflect the actual hours being that large a number. I was also surprised at the price. Don't remember it but it was in the $20k area which I thought was high for that many hours....course it looked good.....from here.
