How many inches are the bottom arms of a three point hitch supposed to be off the ground in the bottom position for a 1946 JD Model B? Any help is appreciated.

The 1946 JD A did not come from the factory with a three point hitch so you must be trying to add an aftermarket three point hitch or an 800 series hitch to it.

How far the draft arms need to drop is quite dependant on what kind of implement you are trying to use with the hitch. Category II implements tend to have a much higher hitch point than do category I implements.

Sometimes lift link extensions are required on a category II class hitch to connect to Category I implements.
