I am looking @ buying a 1952 JD MT out of Canada (about 4hrs from my house). I am buying it from the family of a man who passed away. I want to use it to run a chipper/ or to use a bailer. The sellers are not familiar w/ tractors, can anyone tell me, does the 52' MT have a rear PTO (anyone know the HP?), & does the MT have any type of hitch (2pnt/ 3pnt)? All I know about it is that it runs well, has been painted in the past 4yrs & has new tires w/in the last 2yrs. It has a narrow front end (not trike). Thanks from Maine!

The "MT" does have a PTO. The spline is 1 3/8 diameter; speed, 550 rpm. It has a drawbar to hook implements to that were designed for it. The drawbar can be locked in different posititions to pull different drawn implements. Like the other guys have said you can get a three point hitch conversion for it. I would use front weights.

I have what I believe is a 1951 MT with single front wheel. The hitch as mentioned below, is unique to it. It lifts but instead of 3 point arms there is a round bar between lift arms. It is not hard to convert to 3 point and there are kits to do it. The drawbar hitch hooks onto the round bar. I have used mine on a NH 280 baler but it is underpowered for it. I don't think it would handle much of a chopper. It is a great little tractor and mine always starts. My dd made a step for mine out of 1 1/2 inch pipe that hooks in cultivator carrier ahead of left foot rest, otherwise they are interesting to get on and off of. Only problem with putting 3 point on is they are light on the front.

The MT originally had a hitch designed and used only by JD- maybe they called it QuikHitch. The MT tested at Nebraska had 19.8 belt horsepower, drawbar HP would be a bit less. Yes it has a rear PTO and some of them also had a belt pulley.

I have a 49 M with both PTO and pulley.
