I recently purchased a well used JD 111 rider. ser.# C111J 129899 M. The motor has been replaced with a 12 H.P Briggs and Stratton. I think the original was an 11 horse but dont really know. My problem is that the motor wont even budge when I turn the key. It will turn over when I bypass everything by holding a wire to the pos. battery terminal and touching it to the starter. I dont have any clue where to even start on the electrical system. Is there a simple solution I dont know about? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Just as Old said, also check and see if the mower toggle switch is on, that has happened here, she's going to learn not to jump off with mower running yet. Interlocks are a pain some times but they are also the best thing going for safety.

Not familiar with that model but a lot of them have several safety interlocks, any one of which will cause that problem.
