While I was doing the final drive oil seal on the 6030, got to thinking how many rpm's does the rear axle do in top gear at rated speed ? Just curious ! Thanks again,
Chris.

5020Chris:

If I remember right my "A" runs 2.72 mph in first gear and the tire turned 17 times in one minunte. I think that is what the numbers were. I needed to find out exactly how fast my "A" ran in first gear for pulling is why I know this. Maybe this info will help you figure it out for your tractor. I had 13.6 / 38 tires for this test.

For what it is worth BUDD

Measure the distance from the center of the rear axle to the ground in inches. Multiply that measurement times 2. Multiply that result times pi (3.14). That will get you the circumferance of the tire in inches. Divide that result by 12, to get the circumferance in feet. There are 5280 feet in a mile, so divide 5280 by your tire circumferance measurement.

That result is the number of turns the axle will make in a mile. Now multiply that by the miles per hour you are travelling. That result will be axle rotation per hour.

Divide that result by 60 to get RPM.

(WHEW!) Guys, did I leave anything out?
