I have a 37 D that I am getting ready to tear into. I want to get wheels on it first so I can roll it into my shop. On the front it has round spoke with rubber 750x18 (looks factory). On the rear, someone has poured the center full of concrete and the rubber is rotted clear off almost. Can anyone tell me the correct wheel to look for to replace the rears? It looks as though it has two bolts in the center holding it on. I just want to put the correct size and wheels back on it and do not know what or where to look.

Alan Try chipping away at the concrete. This was an old trick years ago to add weight the easy way. You very possibly will have the original spoke wheels underneath all that concrete. Good Luck

Alan,
Your '37 D would have come with two options for rubber. Assuming you don't have turning brakes, wheel AD1472 (casting number D2570R) was the 12 spline cast wheel. It used a rim suitable for a 12.75 or 13.50 x 28" conventional (not wide-base)tire. This cast wheel was used to s/n 150616 (late '41).

A round spoke rear was also available - a French & Hecht 16 spoke wheel with an 8.00T x 28" rim for a 12.75 or 13.50 x 28" tire. The hub casting number is HC464D.

The rim is only 8" wide on the most common version of this wheel, and converting to a modern tire width is a matter of how you think it looks. A 13.6 or 12.4 x 28 would probably be better than a 14.9 x 28. Before you invest a lot of money in these wheels/tires, it would be best to go to some shows and see what tire you think looks best on these wheels. Opinions and mileage vary.

One other possibility would be to use a later cast wheel designed for use with wide-base tires. The casting number is D3120R, 12-spline, and the common rim was a 12W x 30, which would use a 13.6 or 14.9 x 30 modern tire. Those cast wheels were used from 150617 to the last D.

Alan it should be 16.9 X 28. or a 28" drop center rim or some call them deep well rims. I would get as wide of one you can up to 14"
Might agive Miller Tire a call, they don't show one but maybe can direct you some one who has them.
PH # 419-335-7010 or go to there web site,
www.millertire.com or email them at,

Hope this helps you a little, I need 2 more of them too.
Bob
