Hello all,
Can anyone tell me the difference between the 5020 and 6030 tractors? Are the back ends the same and only the way the engine is tuned the difference? Any knowledge or observations would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Z

Still facinated by a 5020 and 6030's hind parts for about the third week in a row, why? Even if the 5020 was less beefy it also handles less power. Time for you to purchase the parts manuals for both and compare parts.

This is not my post..but some one elses. I am interested because I have been wanting a good 6030 for some time now. But, I seem to be running accros machines with either bad trannys or bad rear ends, but have not heard these problems with the 5020..
Only conclusion is that the 6030 being so much POWER it might be MORE stress on the drive train...

If the 6030 is wearing out drive trains in addition to high hours as these tractors are 29+ years old. The owners/operators tended to crank the smoke screw from a stock 175-200HP to 225-275HP. Then overballast the dual tires and hook the tractor onto a load intended for an articulated 4WD tractor. Lugging at over rated power for thousands of hours in the lower gears will quickly wear out any drivetrain. The 5020 didn't have enough power at 133HP or 141HP to rapidly wear things out.

From what I read and can tell the only thing different between a 5020 and a 6030 is the engine is tuned up more on the 6030 with its turbo charger, its inter-cooler and bigger pump
