The shifter cups that the bulb on the end of the actual shift lever bulb fits into, in the transmission. Do these have "detents" in the side, or are the rounded hollows on the sides of my shifters worn this way. Next question is if these are worn this way should I replace or have the holes filled?

When I"m working on a trans. and have those shifting forks out I build them back up with nickle welding rod the machineable kind. Just fill in the low spots and grind until flush with the rest of the area.You may also want to put in new detent springs last time I bought some I couldn"t believe how cheap they were.

Ken, if by "shifter cups" you mean the slots [pockets] in the actual shift forks [shifters] that the lower shift lever ball engages to move them then those divots in the sides of the pockets are from wear [the side should be straight]..

Whether or not to weld them up or repair them would depend on how good it shifts.. If the trans shifts ok then leave them be.. If the shift lever can�t move all of the gears into complete engagement so the detents drop into the slots then you should repair those worn areas..

I have seen those B trans shifter pockets pretty worn & still shift ok & seen some with little apparent wear that won�t shift worth a hoot..
