I agree with jdtractortech, although I don't use Amsoil. The best thing you can do to "prolong" engine life is frequent oil and filter changes with good-quality oil and filters, avoid excessive idling, and properly warm up and cool down the engine before and after operating the tractor. There have been bunches of engines give excellent service for tens of thousands of hours without ever having any of those miracle products in the crankcase.

Hello, I strongly recomend to buy a high quality oil with the right oil vicosity and you wont need a oil additive. I run Amsoil in my tractors and cars and change oil once a year! I have over 320,000 miles on my 93 Chevy 3/4 ton and its still runs strong. Its a great oil! The best in my opinion! Do make sure your crankcase is clean though, before running this oil, it cleans very well.

I have been putting prolong into my JD 3010D, JD4020D, and JD '52 A. Have had trouble keeping the A running so have no data the 2 cylinder.

I have not notice any difference with the 4020 or the 3010, but then I don't work them hard (100 or less hours each per year).

I also put prolong in my '92 F150 4x4 (4.9L inline 6). I did notice a difference there. The difference was the engine ran cooler. Before prolong, if I had my winter front on at above 20 degrees F the truck coolant temperature would get high. With prolong, I can leave the winter front on well into the 40 degree F temp range before truck starts getting hot.

I've got 179,000 miles on the 4.9L with oil changes every 3000 miles or less. Doesn't burn a drop of oil yet and still has the power it did new. Can't say that prolong is the reason though.
