'39 B - Correct Bolt ?

I am restoring a '39 "B." In regard to the bolts which hold the exhaust pipe to the manifold, the manual calls for 1/2" X 1 3/4" machine bolts - I assume they were square head bolts. What about the nuts - square or hex?

Ken - You are correct, the bolt head is square...at least it is on my 35. My copy of the owners manual shows a drawing on how to adjust the tappets, and the drawing shows a hex nut on the exhaust bolt.(Figure 23) So, based on this, my guess is that they did use a hex nut. (I have a hex nut on mine.)
