reserved names???

I must have missed something recently! I have posted messages and responses on here many times in the last few years but now the last week it will not allow me to use my first name only in the name box. I get a message that the name Larry is reserved and I am unauthorized to use it. I assume this was changed in response to all the mis-use of many of our very useful contributors handles!

Ditto. I tried Lee but it was reserved so I almost shot off an email thinking maybe they reserved it for me. In the middle of that I realized that there are a few more forums than just the John Deere one at this site and thus some other imposter "Lee" just beat me to my own name - that"s life.

Deeredriver, you are correct the reserved naming was because of misuse. Why, however, someone would reserve a common name such as larry I don"t know. I feel it to be a little rude. That is only my opinion since it is such a common name.

What I am saying is to make it a little more unique with your last initial or something like that. With this new system that we have we have to think of things like that since there are several people with the name of Bob. I didn"t mean no disrespect.

Yup, that's about the size of it. Handles are now password protected, so you'll have to figure one that is unique.

When you go to post by hitting "submit follow up" as you reply. It will go to the next page and ask you to enter a password for your name. Pick a password. Now that name is yours only.
