John,
I just looked it up. An original type, high quality coil Part # 5-5091 from Standard Magneto cost me $64.17 plus $3.95 shipping. Ken

Don"t spind the money for new coils, just go and get 4 old tractor coils and mount them and when one of them goes bad you can just get another one. They are cheaper in the long run and it will run just as good. It won"t be quiet as good a looking unless you spend some time making a bracket to mount all of them.

It"s been done and it works good. It"s just like any thing else, if you do a good job it looks good. Besides if you don"t have the money or don"t want to spend the money on those coils it works.

A piece of baler twine keeps the throttle pulled ahead when the friction material starts to wear out too. Only need one head light and tail light don't do no good as you've already been over that ground and gone. A set of old worn car tires work on the front if you help steer with the brakes. The battery charger left on over night is good enough when the generator wears out. Don't need them pto shields in the way either. The question is, where do you draw the line on repair/service quality? If your 2005 GMC was in the shop for warranty work, we could cobble up Ford parts to work in some parts of the ignition, exhaust and fuel system. How happy would most customers be then?

You gotta be kidding? The old crude looking farmer fix? If you are going to butcher it than go all the way. Convert to 12V get a couple of 12v coil packs from a GM car that uses waste spark ignition.

buick, i agree, i have looked at lots of such scabjobs and feel that the only worse thing that you could do to a pony start diesel is paint it red.

Having bought pony coils before, I wouldn't go anywhere else besides Taylor. Anything that I have bought from him has always been at my doorstep in 2 days or less. He also isn't obsessed with payment before shipment. Your shipment will contain an invoice. It's hard to find better people to deal with.

John, the old Deere Part Number was X-9295.. I'm sure that has been subbed by now though.. I haven't bought a coil from Deere in years due to the extreme price difference between Deere & the aftermarket..

Seat cushions! Boy, that would be a sight for the airlines! you need to call Leyland Schwandt for those. THe very best that I have found. His number is in the archives. Just search seat cushions.

I"m passing through on a tour. London, to York, to Glasgow/Edinburg, then down through Belfast to Dublin, to Kildare, to Waterford, Cardiff, back to London.

John, I might have given you John Brillmans"s old phone number.. I fired my lap top up & looked at my phone index & now list Brillman"s number as a toll free [888-274-5562] so if the other number doesn"t work or you want to call on his dime use this number..

If no luck with Brillman try Taylor again as he should be back to the shop by now Taylor Equip. 1-800-3683276.. Taylor is less than the price of Deere on those pony coils.

John, I think you are having problems with some of the vendors right now due to most of them being at the big mid summer tractor shows..

Probably K & K is at Portland at the moment. & Taylor is just getting back from Buckley.

You might try John Brillman 610-252-9828 Between 6-10 PM Eastern Standard Time [only] He is usually there all the time.. His coil number is 5J-5091 & was about $64.00 so you can compare that to Deere..

Coils from the older Harley Davidson motorcycles will work also, so you might find a cheaper solution using them.
