Well i got my clutch pulley pins etc on the 70 repaired without disastrous results so i've put it all back together but there is about 1/2 inch freeplay movement of the pulley on the shaft.Should there be a floating disk between the pulley centre face and the outer gear/disc facing.
E.G. BEHIND the outer gear disc.If there should be,i'ts missing.

John, 1/2" of lateral movement is too much, it should have some movement but that is too much..

You need to ALWAYS have a lined facing next to a steel facing.. If you remember that you can't go wrong [see picture]..

If after making sure all the clutch disks are there & in the correct place your excess movement could be misadjusted fork stop bolts [late clutch] or incorrect apply pin shims [early clutch]..

That pulley does need some lateral movement when disengaged or it wont release..

Any questions just post back..

Clooney--would you have a diagram of the entire induction system of the 70 diesel..Is there a seal between the induction manifold pipe and the pipe coming from the air filter..it appears to be in 2 pieces.I've got oil leaking from here and running back down the manifold.I think it may be from the pony exhaust.
