Yesterday's Tractor Company lists the following:3020-1964-50000,65-68000,66-84000,67-97286,68-112933,69-123000,70-129897,71-150000,72-154197:4020-1964-65000,65-91000,66-119000,67-1435600,68-201000,69-201000,70-222160,71-250000,72-260791.I own a 67 model 4020 that I bought new with a 151000 series number so these are only the begining numbers, not the final production numbers.72 production numbers are probably pretty low as (if I remember correctly) the line was shut down for about 6 months to retool for the new 30 series tractors. Not exactly sure about where the 4025 model fit in the scheme of serial numbers.Serial numbers are almost identical except for the 1970 model which started at 222143.When I was at Waterloo in 1969 for an injection pump school, the 4025s were coming down the same line as the 4020s were built on and their numbers certainly didn't reflect the same production numbers of the 4020s at that time.So the 4025 numbers may need be included in the 4020 production numbers,I don't know?
The 4025 was an export model sent to Mexico.Deere added an extra & larger fuel filter to that model because of the poor (trashy) fuel in Mexico that was causing a lot of problems at that time.The Mexican government would not allow Deere to charge more for the tractors equipped with the filter so Deere got around their demand by simply changing the model number to 4025.
