I am working on some tinwork for a 620, Narrow front, poersteering, 3 pt.. all of the goodies.. Anyhow.
on the RIGHT "Stting in the seat" side of the tinwork, at the bottom of it there is an additional piece of metal, it is about a 1/4 inch extention, and is about 24 inches long. IT appears to be factory. It is however, bent up and will take considerable time to fix it.

Does anyone out there know what the heck it is?

I really want to just buzz it off of there "Even if its all straightened out, it still has an "Unfinished" look to it. Any information is appreciated.
THanks,
AcE

AcE:

Are you sure it's not on the fuel filler side of the bottom edge of the hood? On my '70'D there is a 1/4" edge that runs along the edge to prevent fuel running down the hood from running along the hood edge backward and dripping onto the engine block. In fact, the aft end of it is pinched tight.

Could that be what you're looking at?

Frank

I am an IDIOT.
yes, Indeed. That thing IS on the right side of the hood.. IF YOU ARE STANDING ON YOUR HEAD!!.. lol
Or you have the hood sitting upside down on a couple of sawhorses. Anyhow. SO, THATS WHAT IT IS..
you say that it is pinched off, or something to that affect at one end, Can you please send me a picture of what it is SUPPOSE TO look like? This one is all boogered up.

Thanks Ace.

Talk about a Brain Lapse. that was one of my better mistakes yet!.

I wish I had a better picture, but I"m on the road, so this is what you get. The edge is stock of the same gauge and type, spot welded to form a lip that leaves the hood edge at about a 45* down slope. See the little sketch of fuel dripping off the deflector. THe back end of the lip is pinched tight to prevent the fuel from running backwards of the shelf.

So that"s what that is!!!

My 520 has it and I always thought it was to support the sides for a heat houser.
