Am working on a JD 755. Owner turned on powershaft after hooking up mott mower not realizing it was jammed. No more power. Saftey magnet works but neither front or rear shaft turn when engaged. When the front or rear selector is moved to where the corrosponding shaft would be free the shaft spins freely ,yet when the selector is engaged the shaft appears to be locked. Has anyone worked on these? If not I will order the service manual & go to it but I thought I would try here first for suggestions troubleshooting. Thanks,
Andy

Look for the obvious first. If this is not your tractor, perhaps you are not aware of all the safety interlocks/switches on it. Be sure you are sitting in the seat when you try to engage the pto.

Andy, I have 755 but have never been into the PTO shaft clutch.. Could be a broken shaft inside or a clutch problem, or ???..

~A manual would be a good start but in the mean time you could try the link below as there is good help there for the compact tractors..
