Howdy Guys,

Noticed over the last few months the water level in the radiator was getting low...when i checked the airbreather bowl after running the MT for about 10 minutes, i think i saw an emulsification of water and oil.

Are there any definitive tests i need to conduct to determine the extent of this problem?

I have not checked the crankcase yet, but if there is water there, what is the range of problems i am facing from just a quick fix to some major work?

I am not too technical, but have the MT series services manual and parts book, and eager to become better educated with the mechanics of the engine.

Thank you inadvance for your assistance,
tom

TOM,

See mY notes inside your text below.

IF IT WAS A SMALL AMOUNT OF CLEAR WATER, I WOULDN'T BE CONCERNED BUT IF IT'S MILKY ALONG WITH THE OTHER SYMPTOMS LISTED, I'D GET AT IT RIGHT AWAY.

COULD BE SIMPLE OR VERY SERIOUS. I'D LOOSEN THE CRANKCASE DRAIN PLUG. CLEAR WATER WILL SIT ON THE BOTTOM AND COME OUT FIRST. CATCH IT SO YOU CAN DETERMINE HOW MUCH IS THERE. A FEW OUNCES ISN'T SERIOUS, LARGE AMOUNTS ARE SERIOUS.

THEN I'D DRAIN ALL OF THE OIL AND REMOVE THE FILTER TO SEE THE CONDITION OF THE OIL AND CHECK FOR METAL PARTICLES AT THE SAME TIME.

I am not too technical, but have the MT series services manual and parts book, and eager to become better educated with the mechanics of the engine.

I WOULD SEE IF YOU CAN FIND A LOCAL COLLECTOR WHO IS KNOWLEGDEABLE TO HELP AND GIVE ADVICE. THIS SITE IS GREAT AS WELL.

HOPEFULLY OTHERS MORE EXPERIENCED WITH MTs WILL WEIGH IN WITH MORE ADVICE.

GOOD LUCK,
JC

Thank you inadvance for your assistance,
tom
