420 Engine Block Number - Serial Number

After many attempts, I finally located the engine block number on my 420U, under many layers of paint. I recall that I can ask "someone" if the engine number is the same one that was built into the tractor during production. I can't remember who to ask, or how. Can anyone refresh my memory?

Your JD dealer can get you a new serial tag using
the block number,but the number must be sent into
JD and reasearched to find what your serial number is.I had one done,took about 8 months.
The new tags don't look like the originals and say duplicate,and if your engine has been changed
you still won't get the correct serial number.
