Fan belt tore up on my 1020. Looks like the radiator has to come off to replace it,or does it?
when I take the shaft loose from the hydraulic pump is there any maintenance I need to do? I'm new to the 1020 just got it a couple of weeks ago,any help would be appreciated

I would also put in new hyd. pump coupler rubber bushings since you have it apart and they are not that expensive.

if the pump drive is the one with two aluminum halves, removing the radiator is not mandatory (it is of course much eassier job with the radiator removed...). you can reach the nuts and bolts of the coupler halves by rotating the engine to such positiones that the nuts and bolt heads are accessible with a box wrench and long extention.

Thanks...I have it almost back together. I got to the shaft bushings and clamp by removing the lower radiator hose and working from there with a 10" extension on a socket wrench.Tight but it works.

Do either of you happen to know the torque on the clamp bolts?

Thanks for this post I just bought a 1969 1020 gas tractor and the main thing it needs is a water pump. Finding out the coupling to the hydralic pump has to come off was a bummer. Looked that way to me, glad you were all here to confirm it. One of the nuts came off but I need to pick up a deeper socket tomorrow as one of the screws is a bit long. Guess I should do the bushings as mentioned. Does make you wonder why it was engineered to be so difficult to replace a fan belt.
