Anyone got an answer for this problem, I need two Timken bearings 442-S. I will not pay $416.00 each for them, which is what I was quoted. Boy these old tractors are fun!

Thanks

Michael

Amazing how people can walk into a dealership and even find new parts off the shelf for a long obsolete 67 year old machine. Then complain about the price?

Who did you get that quote from ? Have you tried other tractor dealers like Case,Ford sometimes other places can cross them and end up cheaper.

I tried Applied Industrial Technologies, Rick got a quote from Motion Industries $ 360.00. My JD dealer could not supply. I may have another way to go. I can get Timken bearing that's real close, but it means grinding the differential shaft bearing seat down .074 of an inch. Everything else is the same, a reasonable $ 30.00 each.

JD:

I looked around and $360 was the best I could find as well.

Hey Junkdigger,
Can't help you with this problem , but I have a 38 AR that I have not tore into yet.
Where is this bearing located so I can avoid damaging it if it is still good?
Thanks
