Hello friends, I have just purchased a 70s? 410 and need some info on this machine. It is very cold out now so I have had very little time to look around it! It has a small hyd leak and now shudders when lifting either end. I am guessing it is low on fluid! where is the hyd. oil and is there a dipstick? what is the proceedure to check fluid level must need all cylinders retracted so all fluid will be back in the tank? what else should I know? where can I get good books for an old machine like this?I have had other tractors in the past and not always had good luck with quality aftermarket manuals? any good info in all respects will be a great help! thanks in advance friends!

Watch for the manuals - Operating, Technical, and Parts on ebay under "John Deere 410". I bought mine from Deere and they are expensive. I've bought manuals for my other John Deere on ebay and have been satisfied - at a lot less money.

The hydraulic/transmission oil level is the dipstick on the floor near your feet when sitting in the cab....backhoe folded up in transport position with the loader bucket on the ground...engine off...check that and adjust level accordingly...all manuals are available thru deere...usually a bit pricey...but they are exact for the machine....not a generalized manual...
