I'd get the Oliver 1650.

You can get an Oliver 1650 with 66 hp, 18 forward & 6 reverse speeds, power steering, live hydraulics with remotes, a live independent 540/1000 rpm pto, and 3 pt. They are as sturdy as an anvil and easy to work on. The wide front end models are adjustable for row crop work and because they all have power steering they are an excellent loader tractor.

What is your intended use for tthe tractor? The 2030 is a Utility tractor, low to the ground, intended for use with a loader and other "chore" equipment. The 1650 is likely a row crop tractor, with bigger rear tires, possibly a Narrow front end, and intended for cultivation of crops and field work. Both are of similar power and yes, you can use a rowcrop tractor fo chores.

In all likelyhood, the Oliver will be a lot cheaper to buy than the John Deere, especially if is is gas or lp.

What transmission does each tractor have?

What engine do they have? How many hours?

What is the price being asked for each tractor?

What is your primary intended use for the tractor?

Does the 2030 have a loader? (JD 145 loader is an ideal match).

Haven't used a JD2030, but have driven and used an Oliver 1650 (LP version). I thought it was a pretty good tractor, however the owner complained of having to split the tractor twice in the many years he had it to fix something...I think it was the PTO, but I can't remember for sure.

I'd go with the JD 2030, might get a different answer on Oliver forum. JD probably has better parts availability and 2030 is a great tractor. Also have to look at condition and price of each and what works best for you.
