Went out to work on my tractor that is mostly apart, after about a week, and them dang dirt dobbers had done stopped up every hole on it. Cleaned most out,and i think they were out there watching me because they were back in no time looking for a bolt hole to stop up. Guess im gonna have to shrink wrap it every time i leave. And they really like air tool quick connectors. I reckon every critter has a purpose.

Howdy,

Ben in south tx, that's a pretty good proactive move with the silicone...however, if they bugs already made the hole, just poke a small hole in the mub-dobber nest and squirt some used motor oil...this creates a bad day for the current inhabitants, and when the nest designer.builder comes back, it really infuriates them when every hole they filled is now an oil storage-bin...they will give-up for thay yr., just add some extra oil and it makes it easier to clean outlater...

I know how you feel. I just got done rebuilding the hydraulics on my model 50. Pulled the rockshaft housing, PTO, Hydraulic Pump, the whole deal. Put in all new gaskets and seals and replaced a worn bushing in the PTO.

Got it all back together and found a Chickadee nest behind the radiator all nestled up next to the fan. Normally I would simply dump the nest but it's already laid eggs. Just can't do it.

Recon I'll have to wait until they hatch before I can move the nest.

The mud daubers that built under the shifter gate got evicted without notice. They aren't as cute I recon.

I have the same problem on my tractors, what I have done is put blue silocone in the holes Keep the critter/moister/dirt out and is easy to remove if you need to use the bolt hole, My two cents worth, Good Luck. Ben

Same problem here. Almost done with restoring a B, and now it looks like I managed to build a nice green nesting habitat for the insect world.

I wouldn't say the H word(habitatat) too loudly or you will be filing a report whenever you go to use it and will be unable to ever remove any of the nests without a lawsuit from the EPA. Just a word of caution

Thanks Dan... but it already too late! The tractor has been impounded with police "Do Not Cross" flagging and under a prayer vigil from the "S.T.P.Triple D" society ("Society to Protect Danged Dirt Daubers")

I can't continue work on the tractor until the larva mutates and flys off. Plus I now have to perform community service just because I thought of disturbing them. (Todays rules makes us all criminals!)
