Is the unit the same on both? I have the gears end to end and they look the same, it also appears that the center diameter looks the same. I put the 520 one onto the 530 shaft, and can't seem to get it on for some reason.

I'm too lazy to check the parts books, but I believe that the pulleys were the same but the pulley brake and clutch actuator were updated to a different style.

The earlier 520 has a different clutch setup than the later 520. Later 520 and 530 are the same though. I am still looking for good clutch pulley for a early 520.

I might know of a place that might have one (in NE), what he'd charge for it though I have no idea, if he does have one. Shipping would probably be interesting in itself. He does JD repair, and has several 2 cylinders sitting in front of his shop, I don't go by there often but he could have a 520 there for parts. If interested in a number email me.

I couldn't get your email Alan. Yes, let me know if he has a good belt pulley assembly or a number. Only one I found so far needs lots of welding and machine work and would be nice to find a good one. Thanks.

He is a long distance call for me as well, so I'll let you call, you can tell him exactly what all you need. I just sent you an email, if you don't get it, let me know. Thought I chose not to the hide email thing the next time, guess I didn't.

Looking at them they are exactly the same, and I put it on my 530 and it works. The clutch operating assembly looks like it is different though.

I was thinking there was an upgrade on the clutch between the EARLY 720 and 730. I don't know if this carried over to the 520-530, 620-630 or not. I don't know what was changed but I know I read somewhere that there was an upgrade.
