I have a 2440 that I'm partial to. It's more or less an updated 2030. There were 2 distinctly different "versions" of the 2440. The first was built in Dubuque Iowa. They were made for about 5 years. A later varient of the 2440 was built in Manhiem Germany. Many differences.....Same engine.
Mine is one of the earlier run. Very simple tractor. 219 cu. in. 4 cyl diesel. 4x2 speed tranny. (available with or without the hi/lo) Independant PTO. It was available as a utility or a row crop.
Some options were; Telescoping 3 pt. lower draft arms. Clamshell or flat top fenders. ROPS, w/or without canopy. Stamped steel rear wheels, or cast center wheels. Independant or live PTO. Single, or dual hydraulic remotes. Downswept exhaust, or vertical muffler. Esentially the same tractor as the 2030, just newer. John

I'm partial to the 60HP 2520 but only because I grew up operating one. I helped a buddy out once and he had a 2030. We switched tractors for a while and the two tractors are very different beasts. We agreed though that they were very similar in capability. It's hard to top the 20 and 30 series Deere's for longevity and toughness. Why don't you just rebuild/restore what you have?
