I have a 70 Gas model with 1655 hrs on it. JD dealer checked hp on dino 56 . I guess buickanddeere was wondering about backing because the high/low works in reverse also and let me tell you it will backup at about the speed of 3rd gear when in the high side. Mine has live pto, my wife runs the baler with it. Works great, not the most fuel effecient. Like John T said parts a readily available from JD, used or aftermarket.

Are you planning on using a three point hitch or doing very much backing up blowing snow?

John, below is the HP, Cubic Inch, and Transmission information you requested.

Horsepower (rated): Drawbar PTO/Belt Gasoline 44.2 50.4 Engine Displacement: 379.5ci 6 Speed Transmission
Weight: 6,035 (depending on model and how equipped)

This data is available on johnnypopper.com, its probably accurate, but no guarantees.

The JD Model 70 was produced between 1953 and 1956. Many were equipped with Live PTO, however, I've ran across a few that did NOT have it. Ive owned several and liked them all. Parts are not necessarily cheap, HOWEVER, the big advantage Ive found in restoring Deeres is that many many parts are still available either from Mother Deere or salvage yards or after market reproductions.

Hope this helps, Good Luck n God Bless

John T
